Bitter Kalli (b. 1996) is a writer and land worker originally from Brooklyn, NY. Through their work, Bitter seeks to create opportunities for liberatory storytelling and collective land stewardship.

Bitter’s writing has appeared or is forthcoming in BOMB Magazine, Guernica Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Arts.Black, and Architectural Digest, among others. They have received support from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and Columbia University.

As a teaching artist, Bitter has dreamed with students at organizations including School for Poetic Computation, BUFU and China Residencies’ Cloud9, and the Rolling Library. Bitter is also the founder of Star Apple Farm and Nursery, a project focused on the stewardship of Caribbean and Southeast Asian heritage crops.

Their essay collection Mounted: On Horses, Blackness, and Liberation is forthcoming 2025 from Amistad Books.
